Sindh High Court on Tuesday asked provincial and civic authorities to submit reports on measures they have taken to curb preparation, manufacturing and selling of gutka and mainpuri in the city. Crackdown on quacks in Karachi hailed

Health Experts on Monday warmly welcomed that launching of a vigorous crackdown against 60,000 quack doctors across Karachi city and constitution of task force for evolving strategy in this regard by Commissioner Karachi. Talking to PPI, President Pakistan Paediatric Association (PPA) Centre Prof Dr Iqbal Memon welcomed the decision of Commissioner Karachi for launching massive crackdown against quack doctors in the city but quickly added that crackdown should be started earlier as medical community had been demanding strict action against phony doctors since long.

Six-months Baby kidnapped via Facebook recovered

KARACHI (Online): Police on Tuesday successfully recovered a six-month-old baby girl kidnapped from the city yesterday. Parents said they brought the baby, Maliaka Fatima, for TV commercial audition at a local four-star hotel after a woman, Misbah Khan, invited them through Facebook. The accused took along the baby and did not return, the family members told police, adding that the kidnappers later demanded ransom from them. Suspended SHO Shafiq Tanoli killed in suicide attack near old Subzi Mandi in Karachi

A senior police officer, SHO Shafiq Tanoli, and two others were killed in a suicide attack near his residence in Karachi, SAMAA TV reported. A suicide bomber approached Shafiq Tanoli’s house and blew himself up soon after he left his residence located in city’s Old Sabzi Mandi area, DSP Nasir Lodhi told SAMAA corresponded. Dean of medicine of Karachi Medical and Dental College Professor Javed Iqbal Qazi was killed in a targeted attack on Monday afternoon, Express News reported. Qazi’s driver was also injured and is in critical condition with two bullet wounds.
